Chris Hardee was re-elected as Chair and Tina Rodriguez (Carteret Co.) was elected as 1st Vice Chair.
Attendance from Pitt County was poor.

The Pitt County Democratic Party executive committee unanimously approved the nominations of Lillian Outterbridge, and Dr. David Conradt to serve for another term on the Pitt County Board of Elections.
Chairman Johnny Rouse recommended the names to the executive committee, on Thursday night May 24, 2007, saying, " Chairman Outterbridge, and Dr. Conradt have served the County well as board members. They have instituted new changes this past election, and we hope they ensure that voting becomes more convenient for all the citizens of Pitt County."
This sentiment was also discussed by the Executive Committee that more early voting polls should be open throughout the entire county.
The nominations will know be sent up to the N.C.Democratic Party Chairman Jerry Meek, who will then send them to the State Board of Elections for final approval.

The 1st Congressional District Democratic Party had a great convention this past Saturday, May 19, 2007. The meeting was held at N. Pitt High School (Auditorium) 5659 NC 11 N Bethel, NC. U.S. Representative G. K. Butterfield delivered an informative and powerful address.
The Convention was composed of delegates from 18 of the 23 counties in the First Congressional District of North Carolina. Counties in the First Congressional District of North Carolina, whole or part thereof, include: Beaufort, Bertie, Chowan, Craven, Edgecombe, Gates, Granville, Greene, Halifax, Hertford, Jones, Lenoir, Martin, Nash, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Pitt, Vance, Warren, Washington, Wayne, and Wilson.
The district officers were re-elected are:

Delegates participating in the Convention considered 33 resolutions with regard to the following issues: (a) Democracy in elections, (b) economic justice, (c) education, (d) health, (e) foreign affairs, (f) justice, (g) citizen rights, and (h) immigration. These resolutions were first passed at county conventions, and then forwarded to the District for consideration.

The new officers, who will be sworn at the Jackson-Jefferson celebration at 6:00-7:00pm at the judicial room of North Raleigh Hilton, are:

Treasurer: Dan Spuller
Committeewoman: Kara Hollingsworth
Committeeman: Sam Hyde
Afterwards, the North Carolina Federation of College Democrats and the North Carolina Teen Democrats will be sworn in as well.
Johnny Rouse will continue to serve as the chairman of the Pitt County Democratic Party.
Rouse was re-elected to the position Saturday at the party's convention at the Pitt County Courthouse.
Johnny and his wife, Petra, live in Winterville. He works in real estate.
"I can't say that I have been let down by this party at all in my chairmanship," said Rouse, shortly after he was re-elected.
About 100 Democrats crowded into the courtroom to set up offices for the upcoming elections. Congressional delegates and members of the State Executive Committee were elected at the convention.
Candidate for lieutenant governor Pat Smathers, currently mayor of Canton, was the guest speaker at the convention.
"North Carolina is a state of communities," Smathers said. "But we are like a chain and we are only as strong as our weakest link."
Smathers said that he wants to place a strong emphasis on local government if he is elected.
He said that 80 percent to 90 percent of services in North Carolina come from the local government or from state employees working on a local level.
Other officers chosen Saturday include Debra Sellers, first vice chairwoman; Veronica Robinson, second vice chairwoman; Dennis Mitchell, third vice chairman; Andy Forman, secretary; Cathy Cannon, treasurer.
