Johnny RouseJohnny Rouse was raised by a single mother and attended public schools in Maury, NC.

In 1991, he entered 4 years of active duty in the United States Air Force as a meteoroligist.

He received his undergraduate degree in Political Science and a Master's in International Studies with a concentration in business at East Carolina University.

Johnny and his wife, Petra currently live in Winterville, NC. He is self-employed in the real estate industry.

NC State Chair - Jerry Meek

Jerry Meek has been involved in the Democratic Party since age 13. He has served as State and National President of the Teen Democrats, as the youngest delegate to the 1988 Democratic National Convention, as a precinct chair and as a congressional district officer.

Jerry MeekAt 25, he was elected to serve as the Chairman of the Cumberland County Democratic Party, before being nominated for the N.C. House of Representatives.

From 2003-2005, he served as First Vice Chair of the N.C. Democratic Party.

As an undergraduate, Jerry attended Duke University on a scholarship. He then attended the University of Notre Dame on a fellowship, graduating with a Master's degree in Government, before graduating from Duke Law School.

Eastern NC Political Director - Mira Jones Mira began her work for the Party in October, 2006 doing GOTV work in Pitt County through Election Day. Now, she will expand her work to serve the entire Eastern region of North Carolina. IMira Jonesn the position, Jones will focus on building the Party across Eastern North Carolina.

While new to NC, Mira Jones is no stranger to our state; she has extended family in Greenville and Dunn. She received a degree in Communications and African-American and Caribbean Studies from The William Paterson University of New Jersey.

Most recently, Jones held the position of Director of Minority Affairs/Executive Assistant County Executive for Bergen County, NJ, the most populous county in New Jersey with almost 900,000 residents. From 2001-2005, Jones served as Director of Legislative Affairs for New Jersey State Senator Byron Baer.

In addition to her government work, Mira Jones has extensive political and grassroots organizing experience. She was Assistant Coordinator in Bergen County for Sen. Jon Corzine’s successful campaign for New Jersey Governor and spent four years as Assistant Supervisor of GOTV (get out the vote) operations in Bergen County.
