Call to Action!Pitt County faces many challenges. Every day we turn on the news to see rising unemployment, tuition and costs of living… not to mention parking problems. With every challenge, there is also an opportunity. We have all heard someone say that “someone should do something about that”. The Young Democrats of Pitt County feel that this someone should be YOU. You’ve already taken the first step by visiting this website. Why not take the next one and come to a meeting? We’d love to meet you, and our community needs good people like you to lead. We understand that the challenges we face are tough, but together we can build a future that we can all be proud of.The Young Democrats of Pitt County are answering President Barack Obama’s call to action by servicing our community. We are working on community gardens, recycling programs and, feeding the hungry. We are creating projects to protect the environment. We are helping the elderly and the young-- doing for those that cannot do for themselves. We hope that you will help answer this call to action by helping us Restore Pitt County.
Young Democrats is defined as the ages of 18-35. The group holds monthly business meetings, monthly social events (with maybe a little business that can't wait until the next business meeting), and occasional weekend retreat opportunities. Business- These are the nuts and bolts planning meetings of the party. This is where we conduct campaign training, coordinate civic involvement and discuss how we can best represent the citizens of Pitt County. Social aka “Drinking Liberally”- These are very informal functions where only one or two items of urgent business may be conducted. These gatherings are meant to be a networking opportunity for Democrats and, Independents to get together to solve the worlds problems… one drink at a time. (your choice of beverage) Retreat- Everyone needs an opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Young Democrat Retreats are a way for us to get out of Pitt County, to learn, and to let loose a little. These trips usually cost in the $50 range for a weekend. Both the monthly business meetings and socials are regularly held on Wednesdays at 6:30pm at the Tipsy Teapot, 409 S. Evans St, Downtown Greenville (map) phone: (252) 413-0087. All events are posted on the PittDems Calendar. The February social will be a special fundraiser, and is open to Democrats of all ages. It will be held on Saturday, February 21st from 6:30-9:00pm at Ham's Brewhouse, 701 S. Evans St. Greenville (map). Numerous Special Invited Guests. Cover is $5 with proceeds benefiting "Answering the President's Call to Action."
